Iranian Missile Strike on Saudi Base Injures US Troops

(MENAFN) An Iranian missile strike on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia injured 10 American service members, including two seriously wounded, and damaged multiple US refueling aircraft, according to reports.

Officials noted that the attack also involved unmanned aerial vehicles, adding to the intensity of the strike. The incident comes amid escalating regional conflict, with US Central Command reporting that over 300 American troops have sustained injuries during the first four weeks of the war with Iran.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that the conflict could continue for “another two to four weeks” and emphasized that preventing Iran from disrupting maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz would remain a critical challenge afterward. He described such disruptions as “illegal” and “dangerous to the world.”

Meanwhile, Israel conducted broad airstrikes targeting Iranian nuclear-related facilities and weapons production sites. Iran also reportedly turned back two China-owned container ships attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz, an unusual move signaling heightened tensions.

The attacks have impacted global markets, pushing oil prices above $100 per barrel while US stock markets declined after President Donald Trump paused strikes on Iran’s energy sector. In a separate development, an Iran-linked group reportedly gained access to the personal email account of FBI Director Kash Patel.

These events are part of ongoing Iranian retaliatory measures against US and Israeli strikes, which have included waves of drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military assets. The exchanges have resulted in casualties, infrastructure damage, and wider disruptions affecting global markets and aviation.
